As a child, filmmaker Michael Andres started in the arts through dance--a protege of jazz legend Gus Giordano.
As a teen, he took 1st-place at U.C. Berkeley for his Dramatic Interpretation of the play "Andersonville Trials." He also took 4th-place in California and 15th in the nation for his interpretation of the play "Equus."
At UCLA, he studied British Literature, where he became fluent in French and Italian and graduated cum laude at age 21.
After college, he interned for Hollywood legend Robert "The Idolmaker" Marcucci as a Chancellor Entertainment story analyst for sequels to "Witchboard" and "Drugstore Cowboy." Upon Marcucci's retirement, Andres returned to the Bay Area, where he directed Academic Advantage Home Tutoring of Saratoga for 12 years.
Back home, Andres returned to dance, directing the largest dance studio in the South Bay, The Branham Dance Center, for three years. He concurrently, began teaching film and literature for the county of Santa Clara and the San José Unified School District; through which he has mentored young filmmakers for USC, Chapman, Lion's Gate and Disney, for almost 30 years.
Andres still writes, produces, directs and edits film os his own for PBS, Amazon, Prime, AppleTv and TUBI. His screenplays have been translated into Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Czech, Russian, Kazakh, Turkish, Mandarin, Indonesian and Hebrew.
