Ramiro Velapatiño, born in the city of Huanta, Ayacucho, Peru, is a filmmaker and audiovisual communicator. He is the co-founder of the Ñawinchik audiovisual collective, dedicated to fiction and documentary filmmaking with an emphasis on the appreciation of national identity. His work as a director has been screened at national and international festivals such as Cinesuyu, Filmocorto PUCP, FENACI Huánuco, the University of Lima Film Week, the Trujillo Film Festival, Transcinema Film Festival, and the Casa Bukowski Festival, among others. He received the award for best national documentary at the 2018 Huánuco National Film Festival for his film "The Harpist." He has also made short films with stories that reflect the idiosyncrasies, customs, and music of rural communities in Peru, which have been selected for important national and international festivals.
