Jamil Fakhri

​Jamil Fakhri (born Mohammad Jamil; September 15, 1946 – June 9, 2011) was an acclaimed Pakistani actor, comedian, and TV personality. Widely recognized as a cornerstone of Pakistan Television (PTV), he began his acting career in Lahore's theater circuit during the 1970s before transitioning to television and film. ​Fakhri achieved iconic status for his role as Inspector Jaffer Hussain in the classic PTV hit serial Andhera Ujala (1984), a performance that made him a household name across Pakistan. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he starred in numerous popular television dramas—including Waris, Alif Noon, and Sehra Teri Pyas—and appeared in over 50 films, such as Yeh Zamana Aur Hai (1981), which earned him a Nigar Award. In 2002, he was honored with the Pride of Performance award by the Government of Pakistan for his contributions to the arts. He passed away in Lahore in 2011 at age 64.
