Pavel Kvatch is a Lithuanian-born New Zealand filmmaker. Born in Vilnius, he immigrated to New Zealand in 1993 and graduated from film school in 2010. Pavel has directed six short films: Weekend Graffiti, Gold! Gold! Gold!, The God Painter, Hypothermia, Stuntman and Thicker Than Water. The God Painter and Stuntman were funded by the New Zealand Film Commission. Stuntman screened at the 2020 New Zealand International Film Festival and was a finalist at the 2021 WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival. His latest work, Thicker Than Water, is a proof of concept for a feature film currently in development. Alongside his directing work, Pavel has contributed to over a dozen major international productions including The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Ghost in the Shell, Predator: Badlands and Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. His experience spans camera, lighting, production, visual effects, costume and the art department.
