Studying filmmaking and screenwriting since early high school, Jackson Cooperman has been a visual artist for over ten years. He is an auteur filmmaker specializing in directing, producing, editing, sound design, and cinematography. Beginning with simple home video projects, he started off as a self- taught filmmaker, and later attended film school in August, 2016. Cooperman attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM where he studied film in a closely-knit and hands-on environment. His senior thesis short film, WreckVlogs, won the Best Student Filmmaker award at the 2021 ShockFest™ film festival in Los Angeles, CA. In 2024, Cooperman returned to his hometown of Millington, New Jersey, where he began development on his first feature-film, Daydream, a coming-of age drama where he reflected on the innocence of childhood and in particular, memories of his sixth grade language arts teacher, who ended up portraying herself in the film. Cooperman approaches filmmaking as an art form as opposed to entertainment. "I have no desire to make the next big blockbuster action movie. I prefer making films that I personally consider genuinely rich regardless of their popularity. There's a difference between a film with real depth vs. a trending movie of the week."
